Strategic Private School Homecoming Events

School events can be a lot of work and I am often asked if they are worth the hours of effort. When the event is strategic, it is well worth the time and effort it takes to create an excellent experience for attendees and the benefits to all constituencies are robust.

Homecoming events add value to schools in the following ways:

• It engages the school’s alumni community.
  
• It is an avenue for fundraising.
  
• It builds community.
  
• It allows the school to share relevant information about its mission, new projects, visionary endeavors, and needs.
  
• It celebrates and draws attention to how the school has impacted the lives current students and distinguished alumni.
  
• It offers a sense of pride and ownership within the school community.
  
• It builds a school’s brand.A homecoming celebration can be scheduled for a Saturday, an entire weekend, or even an evening. 
  

It requires a full year of ongoing planning and should be organized by a Homecoming Committee - comprised of alumni, administration, support staff, and faculty.
